What is forest bathing?
Forest bathing is a nature connection practise that originates in Japan, it is a direct translation of 'Shinrin-Yoku'. This nature connection practice is quiet, gentle and mindful. You are invited to slow down to the pace of nature, to appreciate the many small moments of beauty and wonder that often pass us by. In our busy worlds, forest bathing is permission to enjoy the present moment and connect deeply to our natural world.
What is Forest Bathing not?
Forest bathing walks are not nature identification walks and I will not be naming trees or plants. It is also not a form of group therapy or one to one therapy, Forest Bathing is a wellbeing practice.
What benefits does it offer?
Forest Bathing can lower stress, boost mood, and deepen your appreciation for nature. Most forest bathing participants say they leave feeling both restored and energised with a calmer mind.
Why walk with a forest bathing guide?
In our busy world, walking with a trained guide is permission to slow down and become truly mindful. Being part of a supportive small group can help us gain other perspectives to appreciate the woodland. I am an experienced practitioner in holding groups and providing a gentle and mindful experience, being adaptable and flexible when needed.
I have my own meditation and mindfulness practice, which I have cultivated and continue to grow, for the past 15 years. Knowing how to deeply quieten my own body and mind enables me to provide a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere.
Should any difficult emotions arise, I am skilled in providing a discreet and comforting response.
I have my own yoga practice and I find that I connect and practice much more deeply with a skilled teacher. Having a guide for Forest Bathing can have the same effect.
